Yoga mats

A good yoga mat is the foundation of any yoga practice. Whether you are just starting out with a few simple stretches at home or following intensive daily flows in the studio, the right mat helps you move safely, stably and comfortably. At TouchPro Europe, we believe that a good yoga mat is not just an accessory, but an essential part of enhancing your experience, motivation and concentration. A yoga mat that suits your body and style makes every posture more accessible and gives you the confidence to discover new poses.

Yoga has become hugely popular in recent years, not only as physical exercise but also as a way to reduce stress and find more balance in everyday life. That's why we offer yoga mats that suit different yoga styles and uses, so that everyone, from beginners to experienced yogis, can create a safe and comfortable practice environment. Our mats are selected for their quality, grip, comfort and durability, with materials ranging from eco-friendly TPE and cork to natural rubber.

Whether you enjoy dynamic Vinyasa, powerful Ashtanga, restorative Yin yoga or relaxing Hatha, there is always a mat that supports your practice. Some yoga mats offer extra grip for sweaty sessions, while others provide more cushioning for sensitive knees or long sitting poses. For those who travel frequently or practise on the go, there are lightweight and compact travel mats that are easy to carry.

In addition, we focus not only on functionality, but also on appearance. Your yoga mat is a place where you make time for yourself every day, so it is important that your mat feels comfortable, looks good and lasts a long time. With the right yoga mat, you can create a pleasant, safe and inspiring place for your yoga routine, wherever you practise, at home, in the studio or outdoors in nature.

What should I look for when choosing a yoga mat?

The choice of yoga mat depends on your yoga style and personal preference. Important factors include thickness, grip, material and weight. A thicker mat offers extra comfort for knees and wrists, while a thinner mat provides more stability in balance poses. The material also plays an important role, as it affects the grip and durability of the mat.

It is also wise to consider where you will be using the mat. Do you mainly practise at home? Then weight is less important. If you often take your mat to the studio, a light and compact mat is a better choice. By taking these factors into account, you will find a mat that perfectly suits your practice.

Thin mats measuring 3 to 4 millimetres are ideal for balance, stability and dynamic yoga styles such as Vinyasa or Ashtanga. They give you a good sense of connection with the floor. For gentle yoga styles such as Yin or Restorative, a thicker mat measuring 6 millimetres or more can offer more comfort, especially for sensitive knees or longer sitting poses.

You choose the thickness mainly based on your body and the way you exercise. Those who jump, move or do balance poses a lot often choose a thinner mat. Those who are looking for more comfort or have sensitive joints feel more comfortable on a thicker, cushioning mat.

TPE mats are lightweight, soft and produced in an environmentally friendly manner. They are perfect for beginners due to their good value for money and soft cushioning.
Natural rubber mats offer the best grip, especially during sweaty sessions or intense flows. They are more durable, but heavier to carry around.
Cork mats provide a natural non-slip texture that becomes stronger when wet and feel warm and organic to the touch.

The choice of material therefore determines not only comfort, but also how the mat performs during different styles of yoga. Consider durability, environmental friendliness, portability and grip when making your choice.

For dynamic yoga styles such as Vinyasa, Power Yoga or Ashtanga, a mat with good grip and a sturdy non-slip structure is essential. This prevents slipping during transitions and standing poses.

For gentle styles such as Yin, Restorative or meditation, comfort is more important than extreme grip. A thicker mat with soft cushioning supports longer sitting or lying postures and provides a warm feeling during relaxation exercises.

Although the terms are sometimes used interchangeably, there are clear differences. A fitness mat is often thicker and softer, intended for floor exercises such as abdominal exercises or Pilates. A real yoga mat is thinner and more stable, allowing you to maintain better balance and not sink during standing poses.

In addition, a yoga mat usually has a much stronger anti-slip layer, allowing you to move safely and hold poses. A fitness mat is therefore often unsuitable for yoga because it is too flexible and offers too little grip.

Clean your yoga mat regularly with a light spray of water and mild detergent, or use a special yoga mat cleaner. This removes sweat and dirt and extends the life of your mat. Always allow it to dry completely before rolling it up to prevent odours and mould growth.

For natural materials such as rubber or cork, it is important to avoid aggressive cleaning agents. A soft cloth and water are often sufficient. With proper maintenance, your mat will remain non-slip, hygienic and comfortable.

Yes, many yoga mats are lightweight and easy to roll up, making them easy to carry in a yoga bag or carrying strap. If you travel a lot or go to a studio often, choose a mat that is not too heavy and has a compact size when rolled up.

For yogis who take their mats with them almost every day, there are even special travel yoga mats. These are thinner, extra light and sometimes even foldable, ideal for carrying in a suitcase or rucksack.

Yes, all yoga mats in our collection are suitable for beginners. Beginners particularly benefit from a mat that offers good grip, feels comfortable and is not too thick or too thin. An all-round mat measuring 4–6 millimetres is often a perfect starting point.

By starting with a good quality mat, you immediately establish a safe and enjoyable yoga routine. This not only increases your enjoyment, but also prevents you from having to upgrade too quickly because the mat wears out or loses its grip.

Yes, we offer various mats made from ecological materials such as TPE, natural rubber or cork. These mats are free from harmful substances, biodegradable or produced with a low ecological footprint.

Environmentally friendly mats are an excellent choice for yogis who value sustainability. In addition, natural materials often offer excellent grip and a pleasant natural texture.
